The Northeastern District of the Massachusetts Music Educators' Association has established an award to recognize outstanding achievement and leadership in music. Up to two (2) $500 awards will be made to graduating seniors performing in our ensembles at the Northeastern District Senior Festival Concert (Concert Band, Orchestra, Chorus and Jazz Ensemble.) The executive board, whose results are final, will screen the applications. In the event of a lack of qualified applicants, the awards committee reserves the right to award fewer than two awards.
I. Eligibility
A. The applicant must be a graduating senior and a full participant of the 2019-2020 Northeastern District Music
Festival.
B. The applicant must be an active member and supporter of their high school music organization(s) where,
applicable, and be in good standing with their school community.
C. The applicant must be applying to and planning to attend an accredited four year degree granting college or
university. (The award will be made at the Senior District Festival concert; however, the check will not
be sent until we have received proof of acceptance. Proof must be submitted by June 1st and no
checks will be written after June 30th.)
II. Application Procedure
A. The applicant must return the following items by: January 3, 2020 – Due Date
1. Completed Application Form
2. One (1) Letter of Recommendation from Ensemble Director
3. Your high school transcripts including first quarter grades from this year
B. All application materials should be uploaded and submitted electronically through the website.

C. The award recipient must send proof of acceptance to an accredited four-year degree granting college
or university to the above address in order to receive the award.
D. No statement of financial need is required.
